He might not be flashy but according to my Kaufman field guide it is a “very scarce resident in extreme southern Texas”. You were lucky to get such a great photo!
That I was. Working on that day’s writeup now, but after seeing that one, I came across a flock of about 5, which was very cool colorful or not.
Another bird that we missed at our LRGV trip. It may be dull-colored…but I am still envious. 🙂
Wow. Great find!!! I’m heading off to Texas in a few weeks, but I will be in the north, up by Houston. Nothing exotic for me. I have to get to south Texas.
Clay-coloured looks good.
